Since week 47-2023, there has been a gradual increase of norovirus GG2 (winter vomiting disease virus). The major peak observed are week 6-2024, and from 10-13.\u000d\u000dFor astrovirus there was a small outbreak in weeks 5, 6, and 9-11 (February and beginning of March). The increase was observed from week 50-2023.\u000d\u000dSapovirus peaked in week 50-2023 and 6-2024. This virus belongs to the Caliciviridae together with Norovirus, and causes gastroenteritis or diarrhea.\u000d\u000dThree weeks after the schools started in Gothenburg, the levels of enterovirus in the wastewater increased. Enterovirus often peaks in late summer and early autumn, and outbreaks of rhinovirus and enterovirus especially infect young people. The major peaks are observed during weeks 41and 42-2023, while during the winter season the peak was observed during weeks 10-13.\u000d\u000dAdenovirus peaked slightly in weeks 48-2023 and 3-2024. From week 22-2023 we have improved the technology's sensitivity for detection, which means that the baseline for adenovirus detection is elevated. During summer (from June to the beginning of August), Adenovirus increased during weeks 22 to 36. During winter, there was a gradual increase starting in week 44, with major peaks in weeks 48 of 2023, and 3 and 10 of 2024.\u000d\u000dThe amount of pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV) has varied more than 10-fold during the year. This virus is often used as an indicator of fecal contamination of water. In commercial assays for SARS-CoV-2 detection, quantification of PMMoV is used as an indicator of the number of people contributing to the wastewater, assuming we consume the same amount of peppers and chilies every week. It increased in early June and around midsummer, indicating an increase in our pepper consumption during those weeks rather than an increase in the number of people contributing to the wastewater during those weeks. It is worth noting that a peak was observed in week 7-2024."
